North Platte Area RSVP Mission Statement
The North Platte Area Ready to Serve Volunteer Program provides a variety of volunteer opportunities within the community for individuals of all ages. These opportunities enable volunteers to participate more fully in the life of their community through significant volunteer service.

The RSVP program is characterized by its flexibility to respond to the unique needs of North Platte and Lincoln County.

RSVP strives to ensure community needs are identified, the program remains abreast of changes and the time, talents, energy, and wisdom of volunteers are utilized.

As a member of RSVP, volunteers select the type of volunteer service that interests them. There are 135 active volunteer sites with over 250 opportunities to choose from.

Volunteer time is reported to the RSVP Office on a monthly basis via mail, e-mail, online, phone, fax or in person.

We make a living by what we get, We make a life by what we give.~Winston Churchill

North Platte Area RSVP History

The North Platte Area Retired and Senior Volunteer Program was initiated on August 29th, 1973 by the City of North Platte. During the past 50 years, over 4,000 volunteers, ages 55 years and older, contributed 3,461,835 hours of volunteer service to North Platte and the surrounding area. Since its inception, it has grown from a volunteer force of 20 people to an active membership of 650 volunteers, serving 104 community organizations in North Platte and Lincoln County.

In July 2013 the program was renamed the North Platte Area Ready to Serve Volunteer Program (RSVP). The new program now encompasses volunteers of all ages. The program serves a wide variety of non-profit organizations, public entities and proprietary health care organizations. The RSVP is funded by the City of North Platte. The RSVP Program is administered by the North Platte Leisure Services Department.
